The Russian Circus: The Golden era of the Soviet State Circus, when the Soviet Union covered ten time zones. Lenin signed a decree nationalizing the circus in 1919, and the circus grew to include 10 circus buildings
25,000 employees, a circus school in Moscow and a costume factory, and an impressive roster of circus stars. Many of the best talents of the circus now perform in the Cirque de Soleil, since the Soviet State Circus was disbanded, after the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. in the 1990's.
